Aaditi Pohankar started her career in theatre and played the lead in Kunasathi Kunitari her first film. When she saw Makrand Deshpande's play Time Boy in Mumbai where the actress played a seven-year-old boy director Nishikant Kamat noticed her. Her temperament impressed Kamat who made her go through two days of screen tests for a part in his Marathi movie Lai Bhaari (2014) before casting her opposite Riteish Deshmukh.
